Before Photos & Concept
This client contacted Innermost Interiors to transform their hallway, living room and downstairs toilet.
The living room needs to be transformed by adding a faux chimney breast and new contemporary fire. There needs to be lots of storage incorporated so that everything can be tidied away. The concept for the living room is to create a scheme inspired by the clients travels to Africa, a warm, cosy interior with hints of African tribal colours and patterns.
The current hallway lacks character and warmth. The concept for this area was to add paneling to the walls to create more of a statement to the entrance of the home. New colours need to be chosen for the walls and artwork needs to be displayed.
The downstairs toilet needs to be totally transformed to conceal and hide the pipework of the new boiler. The sink and toilet both need replacing with more contemporary fittings.
Living Room
The living room design is inspired by past travels to Africa and includes tribal inspired patterns and colours such as rusty reds, oranges, browns and beiges. The overall look is really cosy and a little bit rustic. The current fireplace will be removed and a faux chimney breast put in place with a contemporary electric fire and a wooden beam style mantle above. Either side of the fire is built in shelving with storage cupboards below. To the left of the fire, there is space for the TV to sit on top of the cupboards, and then more shelving above.
Sentimental art and accessories, collected from travels to Africa will be incorporated in the living room interior. Shelving will allow for objects to be on display and artwork will be hung on the walls. An existing rug will be used, this has also been used as colour inspiration.
All lighting incorporated in the design is recessed/ filtered. There is no direct, bright lights. This helps to create a really relaxing atmosphere.
Hallway
In the hallway- paneling will be added to create more interest on the walls and add a bit of a statement.
There are many sentimental images and pieces of art work which have been collected from visited places, these will be used to create a gallery wall up the stairs.
A corner, ladder effect shelving unit at the top of the stairs has been added into the design for accessories.
Downstairs Toilet
The downstairs toilet will be the biggest transformation. A new boiler had been put into here, central in the room. All of the pipes etc are currently exposed. This will be boxed in and disguised by creating a counter top sink area with cupboards below and a tall cupboard along side- housing the boiler. This also creates lots of storage.
A new toilet and contemporary towel rail have also been added to the design.
The colour scheme is neutral, complimented by patterned tiles and natural rattan texture used on the cupboard doors.
