Katie is the Interior Designer and business owner of Innermost Interiors, with almost two years experience in the industry and a First Class (BA) honours degree in Interior Design from The National Design Academy.
What Katie has to say
I began Innermost Interiors in 2020, right in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic. After graduating with my interior design degree and being under threat of redundancy from my part time sales job, there was a huge lack of design jobs available locally in the industry so I thought to myself why not just start my own business? I had already completed my degree through a distance learning course (studying from home) so I knew I had the work ethic.
Innermost Interiors began mostly through creating virtual designs as home visits just weren’t able to happen. Fast forward almost two years and I am moving away from virtual designs and working closely with clients from the design creation stage- right through to completion of managing the project. I’ve established relationships with tradespeople and my list of suppliers, portfolio and knowledge of the industry is ever growing.
I’ve worked on projects of all different sizes and styles from new builds, to high-end Lake District holiday rentals.
Why interior design?
Art and design have been my passion from a young age; When I was asked what I wanted to be I would always reply ‘a sticker and gluer!’
My love for interiors began with the constant urge to rearrange my bedroom furniture and redecorate my room. I was also obsessed with dolls houses as a child; I built, decorated and furnished my own Georgian dolls house at the age of 9 with the help of my Grandad who was also an Interior Designer and Architect. It still takes pride of place in my office today:

Through school art and design were my focus and I achieved A levels for these subjects, with the goal of being accepted onto an interior design course.
Although I have studied many areas of interior design I have a particular interest in designing period properties in a way that contemporises them without taking away their history and character. I’ve grown up in a Grade II listed Georgian home which has taught me so much about respecting these properties history and working with their period features whilst making them suit our 21st century lifestyles.

My aim is to design spaces tailored to my clients, where comfort and personalisation come first. Creating character and atmosphere specific to the purpose of the interior.
My personal style is constantly evolving with a current love of eclectic style, maximalism and bold, but dark colour schemes. I will forever be obsessed with all things velvet and gold.

Outside of Interior Design I’m a huge animal lover with three dogs and a horse, I’m addicted to shopping and spend way too much money on designer clothing, and finally I absolutely love travelling and sourcing inspiration from places I’ve visited.
